Sometimes I need a page or tab to refresh in my Firefox Browser. I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.7 in an XP environment. I did a quick search and it turns out there’s a nifty little add-on called ReloadEvery compliments of by Jaap Haitsma. I installed the ReloadEvery add-on and it’s just what I was looking for. It reloads pages at an interval you select from the drop down menu or you can set a custom refresh/reload rate. You can also access the ReloadEvery menu by right clicking the web page. Cool!

I read a great little post today about 21 Firefox Add-ons that gives you a short description of what each add-on does and links to get each of the add-ons. I'm very interested in web design and how different colors marry up with each other to create a striking web page, so the ColorZilla looks right up my alley. The Google Notebook should help me keep track of interesting tidbits I find while surfing that I'll want to remember to share with readers later. There's plenty more - 19 to be exact, so go check them out for yourself.

Make Firefox Quicker...

But don't go overboard! Make sure you read this entire post and comments/updates about this tweak that will make pages load faster in Firefox, but be careful with it or you could shoot yourself in the foot!

Firefox 2.0

I've just downloaded Mozilla's Firefox 2 web browser and at first glance, it seems very fast and the import of my IE bookmarks and other content was lightning fast. I'll keep you updated on how this browser performs...

New Firefox and Thunderbird Patches

Mozilla released some patches for 5 critical holes, 8 total, for Firefox and Thunderbird software programs. If you are using either one, the updates should come over within the next few days or you can manually check for updates from the Help menu of the program.

The Mozilla Foundation has released a batch of patches for its Firefox and Thunderbird software. Patches have been released for Firefox 1.5.0.9, Firefox 2.0.0.1 and Thunderbird 1.5.0.9 and are being sent out over the next few days. Eight holes, five of them rated 'critical', have been patched in the new Firefox browser.

"If you already have Firefox 1.5.x, Firefox 2.0.x or Thunderbird 1.5.x, you will receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours," said the organisation. "This update can also be applied manually by selecting 'Check for Updates' from the Help menu at any time."
The Firefox flaws covered a variety of problems, including the browser's RSS feed, processing remote code and the JavaScript handling software. Mozilla also said that it will continue to support Firefox 1.5.x until 24 April next year, but it strongly advised users to upgrade to version 2.0. Seven flaws, six of them rated 'critical', have been fixed in the group's Thunderbird software. They include mail header processing problems and crashes with evidence of memory corruption.
