Ditto on the Do Follow Policy

I read a post tonight on Tricia's Musings about commenting on Do Follow blogs or D-list blogs. I agree completely with her post in that anyone who wants to leave a comment should do so in a meaningful way; don't leave a pitiful little comment just to get a link back to your blog - give me some content - some meaningful relationship to my post, please. Thank you!

Do Follow Badge

As a product of having BAD (Blog Addiction Syndrome), I was peeking around a few blogs this morning and found a neat little 'do follow' badge. I clicked the badge and wound up at randaclay.com where I found a nice post explaining the 'no follow' tag and why you should try to remove it from your blog in order to be able to spread comment love. There are also some badges available in several colors promoting comment link love for those who'd like to add to their site or blog...

DoFollow Plugin for WordPress

I have a couple of new WordPress blogs that I've been working on - one's called the easy chair and it's got quite a bit of content. The other is a brand new blog called Great Day for Fishing which I'm still in the early stages of developing the theme and getting the kinks worked out. One thing I found was a plugin for WordPress called the Dofollow plugin which gets rid of the rel=nofollow attribute from your comments.

Perspective — Upon learning that search engine firms and blogwares endorsed the rel=nofollow attribute, I had some doubts the stratagem would ultimately lead to less comment spam. And from the looks of this interview with a link spammer, I'd even suggest you should get ready for more spam, not less.
